Supporting our favorite non-profit in Sacramento is fun, rewarding and just feels natural.
That’s no surprise when one reflects on the motivations of our inspirational and modest (and inspirationally modest) leader, Della Gilleran.
Della’s Philosophy
Welcome to the party! Ready to dig in?
Della grew up doing, and continues to participate in, family “work-parties”, (good old physical labor), such as raking leaves at The Cabin her late Father designed and built.
This community activity is so ingrained in her psyche, that working together for the common good, while “having a blast!” have become the lifeblood of her entire business.
For the last 15 years she has been devoted to the Sacramento Tree Foundation (STF), an established non-profit in Sacramento, and in particular to the vision of its’ guiding light and Executive Director, Ray Trethway.
Marketing by Design donates time to several regular and unique STF projects throughout the year where Della’s renowned knack for questions, context and corralling feather-the-nest for some strong and brand–appropriate design.
Della’s talents and expertise in marketing are built upon her passion for placing people and their values and services at the forefront of every project.

Della, those she hires, and clients she cherishes, have something in common — they believe in: working for a cause bigger than one’s self, meeting community-minded people with different perspectives, and not least, having fun!

For many years we designed the graphics for the Tree Foundation’s Tree Hero Awards celebration. It takes place in the native oak grove off the Garden Highway— a special and beautiful venue.

This event is very fun to attend— with all the crazy hats. Joel developed this graphic for the event— and we modify the colors occasionally; we still love it!

Boy Scouts — Troop 1 of Sacramento
Since Della’s husband, Gerry was scoutmaster for six years (and she’s the proud mama of an Eagle Scout), it’s been fun to support what graphic needs the troop has — from the updated recruiting brochure, to the 90th Anniversary celebration, to the 100th Anniversary celebration held in June 2016.
